Research-Points to ponder

Here are some points that i think might be of some use.Good luck.
1.Types of variables: Independent(cause) and Dependent(effect or outcome).
Example:If A drinks water too often,will visit restroom too often.'Visiting restroom' depends upon 'drinking water'.So Independent variable(cause)-Drinking water,Dependent variable-Visits to the restroom(effect)
2.Examples of
Data types("NOIR"-Nominal,Ordinal,Intervel and Ratio)
3.Randamized Controlled Trails(RCT) studies have the highest statistical value(gradeA).so if you have to select a grade A study from the answer choices a.case study b.clinical trail c.causal-comparitive research d.Single RCT, which one will you go for?
4.Next to RCT all other sub-types of experimental research are of high value.
5.Lowest is case study(ies)
6.Highest to lowest scientific rigour=RCT>Cohort study,Case control studies>case series>opinions
7.How do you know the given study is RCT?look for these key  words:Random sampling,Control group, experimental group.
8.Mean,Median,Mode,Standard deviation.-Learn the symbols also.
If 'M's are the same then we get symmetrical distribution(Bell shaped curve). If not we get asymmetrical or skewed distribution.Look at the Pics below and try it out.
